About My Work
I make work based on specific experiences and relationships that have had a significant impact on who I am, how I accept myself, and have effected how I love and value those close to me. I experiment with connecting these experiences and relationships with irrational fears I would experience in nightmares as a kid. I create an uneasy environment of horror through a series of paintings, clay, and installation. The reason for combining real experience and fear with irrational fear is to overcome my own fear, or the fear I live in everyday that stems from fully accepting myself; fear of rejection, vulnerability, judgment, and failure. Coming face to face with my fear makes me realize that fear is exhausting and claustrophobic, and a lot of the time, unnecessary.
